X users have said farewell to a long-standing comedy account following Hull KR ’s Challenge Cup final victory.
After 40 years, the Robins finally got their hands on major silverware as they secured the Challenge Cup courtesy of an 8-6 win over Warrington Wolves.
Their long wait for success has been a source of mockery from rival supporters for years, with songs referencing their last trophy in 1985 regularly aimed at the Robins.
In fact, some people took so much delight in it that a dedicated X account regularly reminding people of the number of days since their last success had amassed a strong following. Now, however, it’s gone.
@SinceMajor was the user and they had spent years providing updates on Rovers’ trophy drought.
However, within minutes of the hooter sounding to confirm Rovers were Challenge Cup champions, the account had been deactivated and has now disappeared.
And true to form, a new account has now been created, almost certainly by a Hull KR supporter you suspect, highlighting how many days it’s been since Hull FC ’s last trophy win.
And if you were wondering, it’s 2,843 days according to the new account, which has a user handled of @WithoutMajor.
