Hull City head coach Ruben Selles says talks will take place over the next few days with those players out of contract later this summer. Unlike last summer, City will head into the summer in a much stronger position with their squad with only two first team players out of contract, but decisions still need to be taken with Selles, head of recruitment Martin Hodge and sporting director Jared Dublin.
Joao Pedro ended the season on six goals and is out of contract, though the club do have an option to extend it by a further 12 months, while Nordin Amrabat’s short-term deal will expire.
Injury-stricken Dogukan Sinik hasn’t played a first-team game since November 2023, and like Pedro, his deal will expire this summer. Though he has a 12-month option, there’s no expectation he’ll be offered fresh terms.
Brandon Fleming and Callum Jones are the other two players but will depart the club having finished the season on loan at Forest Green Rovers and Morecambe respectively.
Joe Gelhardt will return to Leeds United following the end of his loan spell, and Lincoln will head back to Istanbul after his short-term deal from Fenerbahce comes to an end. Fin Burns’ season spent away from Manchester City is over after a frustrating campaign.
“I think we need to sit and discuss what we want, not only for Joao, but for everyone. He has given us everything,” Selles told Hull Live.
“We need to know what he wants to do and we need to know where we want to go, so I think it’s too early right now to give you a proper answer for that.”
