Hull FC have confirmed the line-up for their 2025 ‘Hull and Proud’ week – with this year’s event holding familiar favourites and a members meeting with club CEO Richie Myler.

The week will conclude with Hull’s ‘Big Night Out’ fixture against Castleford Tigers, with the club recently confirming a ‘Members Double’ ticket offer for what they anticipate to be another strong crowd at the MKM Stadium. Members can purchase an additional two tickets for just £10.

Meanwhile, ‘Hull and Proud’ week was established over a decade ago and ‘celebrates the club’s position in the local community and its relationship with its passionate supporters’.

The week is named after the club’s motto, with supporters having various opportunities to mix with Hull FC players, from quiz nights to a Nandos takeover and more.

Here is a rundown of the full ‘Hull and Proud’ week schedule:

Monday 9th June – Hull FC’s Big Fat Quiz Of The Year @ Taphouse

Hull FC will kick off the week with a classic pub quiz at 7.00pm at the Taphouse bar on Humber Street. The first ten teams to book will be assigned a player, while the quiz will be hosted by BBC Radio Humberside commentator Richard Stead. Pan-Asian street food will be served.

Tuesday 10th June – Cooking Night @ Nandos, St Stephen’s

Fancy your Nando’s cooked by a Hull FC star? Of course you do. This family event has proven to be popular over the years, and this one promises to be no different. The players will be in-house from 5:00pm, taking on waiter, host, and chef roles for the night.

Wednesday 11th June – Heritage Night @ University of Hull

The club will put on displays of club memorabilia – including a history of shirts, historic trophies, and old programmes. Former players will be in attendance alongside club historian Bill Dalton.

Thursday 12th June – Members’ Meeting @ University of Hull

Supporters will have the chance to sit down and put their questions to Hull FC Chief Executive, Richie Myler, at the latest Members’ Meeting in the calendar. Tickets will be priced at £5, with proceeds donated to Hull FC’s Academy tour of Australia in 2027.

Friday 13th June – ‘BIG Night Out’ @ MKM Stadium

Hull FC will take on Castleford Tigers at the MKM Stadium – for what will be their first home game in over six weeks. Members can purchase two additional tickets for £10. The option is also there to purchase the one for £5. Pre-match, there will be a fan park in West Park.

Saturday 14th June – Reserves Derby

Hull FC will host a second rugby league match during the week, as the reserves derby heads to Hilltop – the home of local community club, Cottingham Tigers. The Black and Whites take on Hull KR (1.00pm kick-off), with the full first-team squad in attendance to meet and greet supporters. There will also be family activities and vendors there throughout the day.

Hull FC head to Headingley to take on Leeds Rhinos on Friday night. It’s an important clash for the Black and Whites, who are looking to end a run of three straight defeats and get their season back on track.

They face a Leeds side in good form who sit in fourth spot in Super League – a position Hull can claw back with victory.

Elsewhere, Vegas 2026 has been formally announced with the Rhinos taking on Hull KR – but the Black and Whites remain frontrunners to feature stateside in the USA come 2027. Here’s the latest notebook.

Vegas, baby!

Leeds will take on Hull KR in Las Vegas next year, with Canterbury Bulldogs also meeting St George Illawarra Dragons and North Queensland Cowboys facing Newcastle Knights.

The Robins will be the home team for the event, which has a five-year deal at Allegiant Stadium. And with two guaranteed events set to take place in 2027 and 2028, Hull remain keen to join the party.

The Black and Whites, as first reported by Hull Live earlier this year, expressed an interest to play in Vegas next season but ideally – and in the midst of a long-term rebuild – held the preference to play in 2027. That desire is now on course to be an eventuality, with Hull frontrunners to head over the Atlantic and take on St Helens.

Huddersfield Giants also voiced their desire to go stateside – and while other Super League clubs will raise interest for 2027 in the coming months, Hull and Saints are certainly in the driving seat right now.

As for the NRL, Melbourne Storm will be favourites to feature in 2027. The Storm aired their disappointment at missing out in 2026, with the NRL juggernaut potentially one of the four Australian clubs involved should the Black and Whites come to town.

Crucial block of fixtures ahead

To the present, and Hull face a huge clash at Headingley on Friday night – the first of three away games before hosting Castleford Tigers next month. Meeting Leeds Rhinos in West Yorkshire before games at Leigh Leopards and Catalans Dragons, it’s a crucial block of fixtures for Hull against sides in and around the top six picture.

And with a key discipline fix-up aired by all, they’ll be confident now of returning to the early-season heights that saw them avoid defeat in eight of their first ten games.

Airing the disappointing Magic Weekend defeat to Huddersfield, John Cartwright has given a firm assessment to his side, who know what’s needed to get back on track.

Captain Aidan Sezer explained: “That’s Carty to a T – there’s no way about it. There’s no beating around the bush. We addressed our discipline, but it’s not about looking back to two weeks ago; it’s looking forward. We’ve got an important block now, and we can take some confidence into that.

“In any walk of life, you can’t live in the past. It’s about what’s ahead of you and what you can control. What’s happened has happened. Magic is done now, and it’s about taking lessons from what’s happened and moving forward. That’s the mentality we’ve got to have as a team.”

As for the week off, Sezer added: “It was a good little reset – we’re ten rounds in now, so it was good to freshen the bodies up, debrief where we are in the season, and look forward to what is an important block.

“We’ve still got a lot of footy still to play this season, and we just want to keep improving every week. We’re a few bodies down, and we had a big block before that. We went to Magic the week before, and it was a tough one; we let ourselves down in a lot of areas, but we’ve prepped well this week, and hopefully we can produce a good performance on Friday.”

Hull sit in fifth position going into the clash. A defeat could drop them to seventh, but a win would propel them back to fourth spot.

Bumper away following

Hull’s away followings have been well documented this season. The Black and Whites took the most fans to Magic Weekend, with over 1,500 tickets sold for Headingley. With over 2,000 going to Castleford and Wakefield and well over 1,000 going to Wigan and Warrington, the Old Faithful have made themselves heard this year. And that support will be just as important against the Rhinos. A massive game awaits.

Herman Ese’ese was confirmed this week as Hull FC’s Player of the Month for April – the second consecutive month he has won the award – but despite his current form, head coach John Cartwright insists the prop forward can get even better.

Ese’ese has arguably been the leading front rower in Super League this year. He’s played huge minutes, averaging an hour of playing time every week, while his workload and contributions are as good as any.

And while Ese’ese’s punch is well-known, it’s perhaps the defensive side of his game that is as impressive as anything, and while you don’t need numbers to realise that the 30-year-old has been bang at it this year, they certainly do the player no harm.

In ten Super League rounds so far, he has made 279 tackles, averaging 27 a game. However, his tackle efficiency is right up there at 95%. He has missed just 12 attempts all year and has given away no penalties.

With the ball, he has made 154 carries, averaging 15 a game for an average metre total of 110. His total metres are 1,105. He has busted through 174 tackles and made 81 offloads while making just four errors.

For good measure, he also has seven tries to his name in both competitions this year and has been available for every game – with Cartwright leading his plaudits – but also stating the areas where he can get even better.

“He never misses a minute,” the head coach said in his weekly press conference. “He plays big minutes on the field, and he doesn’t like coming off. He likes to play longer, but for the betterment of the team, we limit him to what he’s doing at the minute.

“He’s a quiet and humble sort of fella. He doesn’t say a lot; he just goes and gets his work done. You don’t see many front-rowers that are able to score the tries that he does. He’s at the stage of his career where we can still get more out of him – we can make him better, and he can make himself better. The best is still to come, I think.

“Physically we can keep working on him and get him ready for longer minutes. The longer he can play at that level he’s at at the moment, the harder it’s going to be for oppositions to be able to handle him.

“He had a couple of really good seasons in the NRL. He’s at a good age. He’s at the peak of his powers, but I’d say there’s still plenty of improvement left in him.”

Hull FC know all too well the threat of Jake Connor – with the now Leeds Rhinos star plying his trade in the Black and White for six seasons.

In that time, Connor’s attacking talent was undoubted. The try-assist king, he excelled for the Airlie Birds before moving back to former club Huddersfield Giants when Tony Smith took charge of Hull.

However, it’s at Leeds where he has truly hit his straps again. One of the form players in the Super League competition, the now 30-year-old maverick leads the way in the Man of Steel charts, with the trust and freedom given by coach Brad Arthur bringing the best out of him.

That threat is something John Cartwright is well aware of, with the Hull boss laying out the importance of stopping Connor from ‘having a night out’ at Headingley.

“He’s made a big difference to them with his attacking flair,” Cartwright, speaking in his pre-match press conference, said. “They’ve really worked hard defensively; you can see that, but in a lot of their tries, he’s been around.

“He’s probably their joker – he supplies that X-factor for them in and among that tough, grinding mentality. Players like that – they make a difference – and you’ve got to be on your game. If they have a night out, you basically don’t win the game.”

On Leeds, who currently sit in fourth spot with six wins from their opening ten games, Cartwright continued: “They’re a tough team. It’s going to be a really good atmosphere there – I dare say it will be close to a full house.

“They’re playing really well – even in the games they have lost, they have competed. They’ve also beaten some of the better teams. They pushed KR all the way, and they beat Wigan.

“You look at them on paper, and they’ve got class all over the park, and they’re very physical – that’s why they compete in games. They compete at every play, and they make themselves hard to beat.”

Rejuvenated by Arthur, Leeds have resembled something closer to their old selves this year. A tough and gritty side who could welcome back Cam Smith, Brodie Croft, and Ryan Hall after injuries, Cartwright is expecting a firm challenge in West Yorkshire.

He said: “Brad hasn’t been there all that long, but he is getting the best out of them defensively, and now they’re starting to score some points as well. Their best days look like they’re in front of them.”

“He plays a tough style of footy, which you have to do if you want to be successful at this level. His teams are always really well prepared, and they play tough.”

But while respecting their opposition, Hull know they must look to their own borders, with discipline their key focus leading into the Headingley clash.

That goes from their tackle height but also to how they play, where they kick from, and where they turn the ball over – with composure, patience, and connection all sought.

“We’ve made it pretty clear this week that we need to be squeaky clean,” Cartwright explained. “We’re only going to be talking to each other and getting our game on. We can’t let things that are out of our control control what we do. We’ll be watching that very closely.

“You work so hard to get wins – you see the elations of the players when they get one – so it’s no different this week. We’ve got a reasonable start under our belt, but it’s still very early, and I feel if we can get some competition for places back into the team, that’s when we’ll start to improve.”

He added: “No one goes out there to make mistakes, but whether it’s concentration or preparation, we’ve addressed both, and we’ve trained this week as well as I’ve seen us train. We were very efficient with the ball, and we did everything that we spoke about.

“That’s the frustrating thing about coaching football, I suppose; the pressure of the game when it’s on and being able to perform what you practise becomes paramount, but we had a good week last week and a good week this week. We’re as prepared as we can be.”

John Cartwright has made two changes to his Hull FC squad to take on Leeds Rhinos this Friday night. The Black and Whites meet the Rhinos at Headingley and are boosted by the return of Brad Fash.

As confirmed by Cartwright in Tuesday’s pre-match press conference, the forward is set to make his return from a calf injury that has seen him miss the last five games. The 30-year-old is also joined in the squad by Jack Charles, who is named for the first time this year.

Charles has played five games since returning from an ankle injury suffered in pre-season – two for the reserves and three on dual reg for Doncaster, where he scored the first senior try of his career. They replace Will Kirby and Matty Laidlaw.

Elsewhere, Harvey Barron is named in the side, having overcome a knock to his hip at the Magic Weekend. The winger was forced off the field in the first half but has trained all week and is expected to play.

Liam Knight is also included after the Match Review Panel tellingly issued no further action after the prop’s red card in Newcastle.

Hull remain without Ligi Sao (knee), Jed Cartwright (hamstring), Jordan Lane (arm), Oliver Holmes (knee), Ryan Westerman (ankle), Liam Watts (calf), and Roman Dawson (ACL).

Hull Squad: 1. Jordan Rapana, 2. Harvey Barron, 3. Zak Hardaker, 4. Ed Chamberlain, 5. Tom Briscoe, 6. Will Pryce, 7. Aidan Sezer, 8. Herman Ese’ese, 9. Amir Bourouh, 13. John Asiata, 14. Cade Cust, 16. Yusuf Aydin, 17. Jack Ashworth, 19. Brad Fash, 20. Davy Litten, 22. Lewis Martin, 23. Logan Moy, 24. Jack Charles, 25. Denvie Balmforth, 39. Sam Eseh, 40. Liam Knight

Hull FC will welcome back Brad Fash to the team this week, with the forward overcoming a calf injury that has kept him out for the last five games.

Suffering the injury in training ahead of the cup tie against Hull KR last month, Fash is now ready to go again, with John Cartwright excited to get another member of his pack back and create some competition for places.

Offering some insight into his team selections, which will be confirmed at Thursday’s team run, it seems Hull’s centres will stay the same for Friday’s trip to Leeds Rhinos, with Davy Litten and Jordan Rapana getting the nod.

That will see Zak Hardaker remain in the back row, with Fash, alongside Ed Chamberlain and Jack Ashworth competing for the other starting spot, not to mention key interchange options.

Elsewhere, Yusuf Aydin and Sam Eseh are available, with Liam Knight avoiding further action from the MRP after his red card at Magic Weekend and likely to start alongside Herman Ese’ese in the front row.

Speaking on Fash’s return, Cartwright said in his pre-match press conference: “Brad can play either in the back row or the middle, but Jack Ashworth has been doing that role, and he’s made not a bad fist of it when he’s gone to the edge. We’ve got to weigh up our best 17, and we’ll name that to the boys on Thursday, but Brad adds depth to our squad.

“I’m pretty happy with the centres – Davy Litten and Jordan Rapana – we’ve spoken about Davy, and when Jordan is fit, he’s someone that is just in the team. We need players back just to create competition for places; when you get that, that’s when your level of performance goes up.”

As for Litten, Cartwright piled the praise on his in-form centre, who has come back into the side strong after six months out with an MCL injury. The layoff saw the now 22-year-old go under the knife, but his attitude never differed throughout the process.

“It’s a really good story,” Cartwright said on Litten. “His attitude has never wavered right through – he had the operation late and was out in rehab for a good four to five months. An opportunity then came along, and he grabbed it.

“He’s a competitor, he’s full of energy, and he’s the sort of bloke that you like playing with. He hasn’t taken a backwards step one little bit – every single week, no matter what happens, he deals with the areas where he can get better, and he brings what he brings – it’s infectious for us.”

Viva Las Vegas! Hull KR and Leeds Rhinos are heading to Sin City. It has been officially confirmed that the Robins and the Rhinos will be Super League’s representatives in Vegas next year, with the two clubs set to participate in rugby league’s biggest global event.

It has been announced that the two teams will be part of a tantalising billing at the Allegiant Stadium on February 28th 2026, with the duo to battle it out at the 65,000 capacity stadium alongside four of the NRL’s top clubs next year. Canterbury Bulldogs, Newcastle Knights, North Queensland Cowboys and St George Illawarra Dragons will also be involved in the action next year.

Super League were invited back to the event next year after Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors’ involvement proved to be a huge success in March. Around 10,000 supporters made the trip stateside from the UK and a similar legion of travellers are set to embark on the trip this year, with both the Robins and the Rhinos expected to fly in their thousands.

Huddersfield Giants, Hull FC and St Helens had also expressed interest in making the trip, but it’s Hull KR, Challenge Cup finalists and current Super League table toppers, alongside Leeds Rhinos, one of the competition’s most successful sides, who have been given the nod. The Black and Whites are thought to have expressed a desire to focus on a 2027 bid and are thought to be early frontrunners to participate in a few years’ time.

For Rovers, their involvement will see them essentially have one fewer ‘home’ game next year, with the match set to be considered a home fixture when the schedule comes out. The club has confirmed that price increases proposed in 2023 ahead of the 2026 season will now not take place.

But it will also see both them and the Rhinos take part in an event that has quickly become the most-watched in rugby league. The NRL boasted how the event had a reach of 3.1 billion online last year, with Super League officials stating at the time that it was the equivalent of 200 years of brand marketing for most clubs.

Rhodri Jones, the Managing Director of RL Commercial, said: “Congratulations to Hull KR and Leeds Rhinos for embracing the unique opportunity provided by taking a Betfred Super League fixture to Las Vegas in 2026 – and for submitting such strong bids to represent British Rugby League in Nevada next year.

“It was a huge statement of intent by Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves to pursue the opportunity of making history in Vegas in 2025, and it is a credit to the impact they made that we have been able to work so closely with the NRL on ensuring a continued northern hemisphere presence.

“Super League’s first Las Vegas fixture delivered a huge spike in profile and glamour for the whole competition, as reflected in the viewing figures on Sky Sports, and in the response from other sports and the wider sporting public.

“It was vital that the two clubs to follow the trail blazed by the Warriors and the Wolves next year would be equally strong representatives of the Betfred Super League and the sport of Rugby League, and we are confident in the ability of Hull KR and Leeds Rhinos to achieve that.”

Matty Laidlaw is doing everything he can to earn a new deal at Hull FC. That’s the view of head coach John Cartwright, who has praised the conduct and attitude of the young front-rower.

Laidlaw has been biding his time for first-team action this year. He made his first Super League appearance of the season against Wigan Warriors last month and played on dual reg for Doncaster against Halifax Panthers over the weekend.

And by all accounts, the 21-year-old went well, with Cartwright airing the qualities of the middle, who debuted in 2022 and is gunning for a new contract at the club.

Speaking to Hull Live, Cartwright said: “He did a really good job (in the Wigan game). He did exactly what his coaches asked of him, which is all we can ask. He’s a lightweight middle, I suppose, but he’s as tough as anyone.

“He is courageous, and he puts his head on the line. I spoke to him after that game, and I said to him if he keeps continuing with those performances whenever he gets a chance, then he’s going to be knocking on the door.”

Laidlaw isn’t the only young middle that is looking to earn a new contract at the club, with Will Gardiner also aiming to extend his time with Hull. The 23-year-old prop also debuted in 2022 and played on dual reg alongside Laidlaw for Doncaster over the weekend.

“Whenever you’re off contract, that’s your time where you’ve got to be playing your best footy, and they (Laidlaw and Gardiner) are doing a good job,” Cartwright explained. “They went to Doncaster at the weekend, and they knocked over the leaders, Halifax.

“They were both really good at what they did. Those boys have had a couple of games, and they’re knocking on the door.”

Elsewhere, the likes of Cobie Wainhouse and Zach Jebson remain out of contract, with more senior players like Tom Briscoe and Jack Ashworth also seeing their deals expire.

The club are yet to make final decisions on those players, with external factors like the proposed quota exemption rule – one which would allow them to get Liam Knight under the quota next season with James Bell (who has played in the U.K. leagues since 2020) counting off – still to be determined.

But the stalling of that process is frustrating Cartwright, who is still awaiting what figures are on the cap before the club – who have made new signings in the shape of Bell – not to mention Joe Batchelor, Connor Bailey, and Harvie Hill – can commit to further extensions.

“It’s ongoing, mate,” Cartwright said on that process. “It’s like with anything; it’s a bit of a wait and see. There are things hanging around the quota situation, and that affects your salary cap.

“Unfortunately, until we get a real clear ruling on what’s happening with that quota situation, it’s hard to go and recruit, not knowing what you can spend.

“We haven’t heard back yet (after the quota meeting), and you can’t go and spend your cap or sign a quota player while you don’t know if it’s available. Until we get clarification on that, everything has to slow down.”

Elsewhere, rugby union winger Charlie Robson has gone back to London after featuring for the reserves side on trial last Friday night.

“He’s decided to go back to London,” Cartwright confirmed. “He was keen to have a game of rugby league – we had a game on, and we were keen to give him the opportunity.

“He went okay. He’s very green with rugby league, but he’s decided to head back to London.”

Robson scored two tries during the 60-6 victory over Salford but was also sent off late on alongside Wainhouse after a scuffle broke out between the two sides. Yusuf Aydin was also sin-binned for an accidental elbow contact.

Cartwright added: “I didn’t see exactly what happened, but from all reports, I don’t think there were any cases to answer.”

Durability is one of the greatest strengths of any rugby league player. In such a physically demanding sport, the ability to keep turning up, pull on the shirt, and perform every week should never be underestimated.

In the midst of a long-term rebuild, that reality is even more so at Hull FC, who need their key and experienced players out on the field week in and week out. But have they managed to do that this year? And who is proving to be the most durable?

Two players – John Asiata and Lewis Martin – have played in all 13 games in league and cup so far this year. However, Aidan Sezer, Herman Ese’ese, and Tom Briscoe have also been available for every game – missing just the York Acorn tie due to John Cartwright fielding a predominately young team. Liam Knight has also played in all nine games since arriving in the country mid-season, while Will Pryce has played all five.

In fact, from the start of the 2024 season to now, Martin has missed just three games, and he was the 18th man for all of them. Early days, but his durability is already proving to be a valuable asset. Ese’ese, too, has missed just four games since joining the club – two to suspension, one to injury, and the Acorn cup tie.

Elsewhere, Cade Cust has missed just one game due to HIA protocols. Sezer and Cust are also a huge jump on former half-back Jake Trueman, who played in just 26 of Hull’s 57 games across 2023 and 2024 – or 46%.

Jack Ashworth is also having a durable season. The prop played just 14 of 28 games in 2024 but has missed just one game this year as he seeks a new deal. Yusuf Aydin’s durability is too proving to be handy. The prop played in all 19 games since joining the club last year and has featured in ten of the 13 so far this season. He’s at 91% since joining the club.

Elsewhere, Ed Chamberlain has missed four games this year and seven since joining the club, first on loan. He has played 17 of the 24 games since arriving – 71%.

Meanwhile, injuries for Zak Hardaker, Harvey Barron, Jordan Lane, and Brad Fash have lowered their percentage to 62%, all playing eight games this year, with Fash in particular struggling with various injury issues for the last 18 months. He’s played 20 of Hull’s 41 games since the start of 2024.

Injuries have also affected Davy Litten and Denive Balmforth this year. However, Litten has played all six of Hull’s games since coming back into the team.

Ligi Sao’s percentage is also dropping after being ruled out for the season with a knee injury. He also had issues last season with suspensions.

Elsewhere, Jed Cartwright will be looking to improve his percentage when returning from injury. The back rower is such a weapon for Hull when he’s out on the field, but unfortunately he’s been dealt two hamstring blows this year, playing just four of Hull’s 13 games so far.

In fact, since Cartwright was named in the 21-man squad for the first time last season, he’s played in nine of Hull’s 26 games. He injured his foot playing for the reserves and has also missed games due to a failed HIA and a suspension.

Interestingly, Logan Moy has played in 71% of the games since his first-team debut, with eight appearances this term adding to the 16 he made last year. Callum Kemp and Jack Charles are yet to feature in the first team this season, having recently overcome ankle injuries. Ryan Westerman has also been out for over two months with an ankle injury.

Liam Watts is down at 14% having played just one seven games since returning to the club. He is currently out with a calf issue.

Here is a rundown of the percentage of games played in 2025 from every player and then 2024 and 2025 combined:

2025 only

100% | John Asiata | 13/13
100% | Lewis Martin | 13/13
100% | Liam Knight | 9/9
100% | Will Pryce | 5/5
92% | Jack Ashworth | 12/13
92% | Tom Briscoe | 12/13
92% | Cade Cust | 12/13
92% | Herman Ese’ese | 12/13
92% | Aidan Sezer | 12/13
85% | Amir Bourouh | 11/13
85% | Jordan Rapana | 11/13
77% | Yusuf Aydin | 10/13
69% | Ed Chamberlain | 9/13
62% | Harvey Barron | 8/13
62% | Brad Fash | 8/13
62% | Zak Hardaker | 8/13
62% | Jordan Lane | 8/13
62% | Logan Moy | 8/13
56% | Sam Eseh | 5/9
46% | Denive Balmforth | 6/13
46% | Davy Litten | 6/13
31% | Jed Cartwright 4/13
23% | Will Hutchinson | 3/13
15% | Ligi Sao | 2/13
15% | Will Gardiner | 2/13
15% | Will Kirby 2/13
14% | Liam Watts | 1/7
8% | Oliver Holmes | 1/13
8% | Lloyd Kemp 1/13
8% | Matty Laidlaw 1/13
8% | Joe Ward 1/13
8% | Ryan Westerman 1/13
0% | Jack Charles | 0/13
0% | Zach Jebson | 0/13
0% | Callum Kemp | 0/13

Hull FC’s first-team had some welcome time off over the weekend – with Super League pausing for the Challenge Cup semi-finals. However, the reserves played their fifth game of the year, with Callum Kemp and Lloyd Kemp also in representative action.

Here’s the latest notebook.

Reserves win clash with four red cards issued

Hull FC trialist Charlie Robson scored two tries before receiving one of four red cards in Friday’s reserve game against Salford Red Devils. Two players from each side were shown red after a scuffle broke out in the game – with Cobie Wainhouse also sent off. Two Salford players also received their marching orders after plenty of pushing and shoving between the two sides.

Meanwhile, Robson, who has a rugby union background and played for Coventry in the sport’s second tier last season, lined up on the wing for the Black and Whites, crossing over for a brace – his first a 40-metre dash to the line and his second a firm finish after cutting back inside and evading a handful of tackle attempts.

The 23-year-old’s efforts were two of twelve during the 60-6 victory, with Hull converting just half of their tries. Elsewhere, Joe Ward, Lennon Clark, and Will Kirby all scored try braces. Also crossing over were Joe Thompson, Logan Moy, Jack Charles, and Elliot Middlemas. Charles, back in Hull colours after three games on dual reg at Doncaster, landed six goals.

Hull led 26-0 at the break and also had to serve ten minutes of the first half with 12 men, as Yusuf Aydin was sin-binned. The prop started the game after only featuring for one short stint at the Magic Weekend. He was yellow carded after accidentally catching a defender with his elbow in the tackle.

Also in action was Sam Eseh, who didn’t feature in the second half at Magic. The on-loan middle got some decent minutes under his belt before Friday’s Super League clash against Leeds Rhinos at Headingley. Will Hutchinson also played at hooker while Denive Balmforth lined up in the back row. Meanwhile, the scuffle that saw four red cards broke out after Balmforth was tackled off the ball.

Hull Starting XIII: Logan Moy; Charlie Robson, Lennon Clark, Ben Johnson, Joe Ward; Jack Charles, Joe Thompson; Sam Eseh, Will Hutchinson, Cobie Wainhouse; Will Kirby, Denive Balmforth; Yusuf Aydin. Interchanges: Owen Haldenby, Elliot Middlemas, Callum Smith, Will Wilson

Hull Tries: Ward 2, Clark 2, Thompson, Kirby 2, Moy, Charles, Robson 2, Middlemas. Goals: Charles 6/12

Kemp twins star in Yorkshire win

Yorkshire won the first Academy Origin game against Lancashire with a thumping 42-10 victory at Castleford’s Wheldon Road on Saturday afternoon. Both Callum Kemp and Lloyd Kemp featured, with Callum in the halves and Lloyd at full-back, who crossed over during the win.

Both players have been playing for Hull’s academy and reserves this season, with Lloyd also making a try-scoring debut for the first-team in the Challenge Cup tie against York Acorn back in February.

Huge following set for Headingley

Hull FC are set to be backed by a huge following at Leeds Rhinos at Headingley on Friday night. The Black and Whites have filled over 20 coaches for the clash, with well over 1,000 tickets sold. The official club coaches have once again been subsidised by owners Andrew Thirkill and David Hood, with Hull going up against Leeds for the first time this year.

Jebson plays on loan

Zach Jebson played his second game for Goole Vikings over the weekend. The forward has moved to the League 1 outfit on loan for the rest of the 2025 season, starting the game in the back row position. Unfortunately, it was another defeat for the Vikings, who were beaten 42-24 by Whitehaven up in Cumbria.
