Jack Kaye ran his grocer’s shop off Newland Avenue, Hull, for more than 50 years, before it closed shortly before the millennium.
He is a celebrated local figure and now his daughter, Beryl Burazin, has unveiled a tribute to remember his contribution to the local community.
The shop was open seven days a week between 1947 and 1998.
Beryl said he thrived on hard work and went above and beyond for his customers.
One comment about Jack on social media read: “A true gentlemen and the last of the traditional shop owners.”
