Two Hull pubs are going under the hammer later this month.
The Wassand Arms, in Wassand Street, off Hessle Road, has a guide price of £80k to £90k and a minimum opening bid of £75k on it. The sold-as-seen vacant pub with a five/six-bedroom apartment above is in need of full refurbishment, said Auction House, Hull and East Yorkshire, which is conducting the sale on Wednesday, May 28.
The pub, lot 12 in the auction, is in a largely commercial location and described as an opportunity for investors and property renovators to acquire a property that needs a full programme of renovation but is “realistically priced to reflect the work required”. The particulars state: “The sizable property offers accommodation over three floors, including two bars and toilet facilities on the ground floor, and residential accommodation on the first and second floors, including a living room, up to six bedrooms, and four bath/shower rooms.”
On the same day, the East Riding Hotel, in Cannon Street, will also be auctioned by Auction House. In a largely industrial area north of the city centre, but with the residential Bridlington Avenue close by, this pub, lot 13, has a guide price of £100k to £110k and a minimum bid of £90k is invited.
It is described as a freehold pub with a three-bedroom apartment over, requiring a full programme of renovation. “The property is currently vacant and comprises of a ground-floor bar, WCs and cellar access,” the details state.
“To the first floor there is a landing with access to a roof terrace, a living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom and on the second floor are two further bedrooms and a bathroom. The property is being sold as seen.”
In both cases, bidding opens at noon on Monday, May 26, with the auctions expected to conclude at 1pm on the 28th. Please call Auction House on 0845 400 9900 to arrange a viewing.
