Hull City have today published their retained list following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.
The headline news is that the Tigers, who are searching for a new manager following the departure of Ruben Selles this week, have triggered their one-year contract extension option on Joao Pedro. The experienced striker, signed on a free transfer last September, finished the campaign as the Tigers’ leading marksman with six goals in 36 appearances.
Although Pedro has extended his City stay, Hull Live understands the club have triggered the clause in his deal to protect Pedro’s value and the player is still likely to move on this summer. The Tigers currently have Pedro, Mason Burstow and Kyle Joseph as their striking options.
Midfielder Gustavo Puerta will become a permanent Tigers player on 1 July after a clause was triggered in his loan deal. The 21-year-old will join the Tigers on a three-year contract from German club Bayer Leverkusen, with a club option of an additional year, subject to EFL and FA ratification. The Colombian featured in 31 matches across all competitions, scoring against Doncaster Rovers and Oxford United.
Left-back Brandon Fleming, midfielder Callum Jones and wingers Nordin Amrabat and Dogukan Sinik are to be released at the end of their contracts. Hull-born Fleming made 45 appearances during a 16-year association with his hometown club.
Moroccan wide man Amrabat featured 10 times for City, providing one assist after arriving in January on a short-term deal. Turkish winger Sinik, recruited from Antalyaspor in July 2022, struggled with injuries throughout his time at the club, limiting him to 13 appearances during his spell in East Yorkshire. Midfielder Jones, signed from Bury in 2019, played 11 times for the Tigers.
Loan players Louie Barry, Finley Burns, Joe Gelhardt, Lincoln Henrique and Oscar Zambrano will return to their parent clubs on June 30. A City statement read: “Hull City would like to thank all players leaving the club this summer for their efforts during their time at the MKM Stadium and wish them every success for the future.”
