Overnight closures are no longer needed in May as part of the works to the A63 Castle Street, National Highways have confirmed.

Current work is happening on the base of the underpass and completing concrete pours in the remaining slabs. National Highways have said it is a “complex part” of the scheme in terms of machinery access.

Announcing that no more overnight closured are needed for May, they said: “This is due to a slight resequencing of our works, which can be combined into our plan of activities over the next few weeks. This will not impact the overall programme.”

Now, closured have been announced for June. These are scheduled to take place Monday to Friday, 8pm to 6am and are as follows:

  • Monday 2 June – Friday 6 June – full closure
  • Monday 9 June – Friday 13 June – westbound only (delayed start Friday 13 June 10:30pm due to Hull KR home fixture)
  • Monday 16 June – Friday 20 June – westbound only
  • Monday 23 June – Friday 27 June – westbound only (delayed start Friday 27 June 10:30pm due to Hull KR home fixture)
  • Monday 30 – Friday 4 July – full closure

A full signed diversion will be in place via the A15, A164, and A1079 and A1033 for eastbound traffic (vice versa for westbound).

The £355 million project started in March 2020 and is now anticipated to end in 2026.
