Hull KR have one stop left on their journey to Wembley as they prepare to host St Helens at Sewell Group Craven Park on Friday night. It is their last match before the Challenge Cup Final and with that, Willie Peters is in a position where he’s some tough decisions to make.
As a general rule, teams test players the week before Wembley. We’ve seen it over and over again and in 2023, Peters did just that as he made wholesale changes before the final that year.
However, his 21-man squad this week suggests he won’t be going down the same route this time. He has named a strong extended squad featuring all of his available top players. Of course, Rovers are top of Super League and chasing the League Leaders’ Shield too, and that will be a consideration.
Of course, the risk with going full tilt is that any failed head injury assessments would rule a player out of playing next week, and any charges that result in suspensions will be served next week too. There’s also the risk of general injuries.
So there is risk attached to playing a full team, but of course, there are obvious negatives to playing a weakened side.
Peters will ultimately make the final call but in this instance, we want to know what you would do if you were in charge and picking the team. Below is a poll with a series of questions and we want you to tell us how you would play things Friday night.
