A race day with families in mind is being hosted by Beverley Racecourse during the half-term holiday.
The family fun race day will include entertainment for children, live music and outdoor games, as well as a full race card, in the all-ages event. It takes place tomorrow (Wednesday, May 28) at the historic Westwood course.
The Picnic Enclosure gates open at 11.30am, and this is where all the entertainment will be taking place. There will be face painting with the team from We Face Painting 4 You Hull; the local Yorkshire funfair, Gallagher’s, with a selection of free rides plus stalls to enjoy for a small cost, and sounds from Beverley Brass Band, keeping everything in tune from the top of the Touch Above Bar.
Pony Parties will be attending for the first time, with a variety of pony-based entertainment. There will be live ponies and lots of pony-related games, including a set of miniature horse jumps where the children will get into a horse costume and jump the jumps, having races with their friends.
An outdoor games zone will feature the likes of mini-golf, a skittle alley and giant versions of such as Connect 4, Jenga, Twister and Ludo. New for this year is an inflatable Grand National, the aim of the event to be first round the track on a Space Hopper.
Under-18s are free of charge if accompanied by a paying adult. Other concessions apply.
