Matt Peet has revealed that Hull FC loan forward Sam Eseh doesn’t have a third-year option on his contract and is in fact already contracted at Wigan Warriors for the 2026 season.

Ahead of the 2024 season, Wigan announced the signing of Eseh from Wakefield Trinity as a two-year deal with the option of a third. That would have left the Cherry and Whites with a decision to make at the end of this year, but that is not the case after all, with Peet confirming the prop, who has impressed at Hull on loan in recent weeks, is contracted at the club next season.

Hull were hoping to keep the prop beyond his current loan spell, with John Cartwright even speaking about the option earlier this month. He said the club’s desire was to make Eseh a permanent signing but expected that Wigan ‘wouldn’t let go of him anytime soon.’

And now Peet’s comments have firmed up that expectation, with Eseh, who is yet to debut for his parent club, at the Warriors next year. He has impressed at Hull in recent weeks, with his performances getting stronger and more aggressive the more time he gets on the field. He scored his first try for the Airlie Birds at Leeds before going back-to-back at Leigh.

“He’s not off contract,” Peet said of Eseh at his weekly press conference. Hull Live understands contract details have since been made clear between all parties.

Meanwhile, Hull have signed Wigan prop Harvie Hill for the 2026 season, as exclusively reported by Hull Live. The champions are also set to lose Liam Byrne to Warrington Wolves.

The Black and Whites have also signed Joe Batchelor and James Bell from St Helens and have added Connor Bailey from York Knights. They are also keen to keep Liam Knight, and have a number of key contract calls to make.
