A Hull mum who has opened her first shop at the age of just 23 has credited her three-year-old son as her “biggest motivation”.
Ellie Mae Murray, 23, officially opened her sunbed shop, HR GLOW Tanning Studio, in Orchard Park Shopping Centre on Monday, bringing her ambitions and dreams to fruition.
The young business owner welcomed new customers and brought her son along to the opening of the salon, which she hopes will “build a better future” for the two of them.
Ellie, who raises her son singlehandedly, said: “I did this for my little boy. He’s my biggest motivation, and every step I take is to build a better future for both of us. Opening this shop was a dream I never stopped chasing, even on the hard days.”
The new shop aims to be affordable and accessible, with loyalty rewards available to customers along with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

When asked what advice she would give to any young person with a dream of opening their own business, Ellie said: “It’s never easy, but it’s always worth it. If you have a dream, go for it, even if you’ve got a toddler in one hand and a to-do list in the other.
“The shop is more than just a tanning salon, it’s a symbol of perseverance, self-belief and starting fresh.”
