Here’s a run down of some of the planning applications that have recently been approved by Hull City Council which include changes to a city centre car park.

The council has approved an application which will see the car park on the corner of Osborne Street and Waterhouse Lane, near Connexin Live, becoming a private contracted car park for the users of a nearby office block. The application explains that the car park, which used to be an NCP short-stay car park, will be used by the occupiers of the Monocle office building on the junction of Ferensway and Anlaby Road which is currently undergoing a comprehensive refurbishment. It is believed that having its own allocated parking spaces will help attract occupiers into the offices.

New HMO

The council has also approved the conversion of a property in Arthur Street into a three-bedroom house in multiple occupation (HMO). The application, which has now been given the green light by the council, states that it will have a double bedroom, a communal room, a kitchen, and a bathroom on the ground floor along with a further two bedrooms (one double and one single) as well as a bathroom on the first floor.

An application has also been approved for 52 existing diesel generators to be replaced with a low-carbon Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The replacement batteries will have zero carbon emissions and will therefore be better for the environment than the current diesel generators.

The site in question is located off Great Field Lane. which planning documents explain “had formerly been a public highway running between Marfleet Lane and Somerden Road”. The new batteries would be housed in steel containers. Plans state that the rest of the surrounding compound will be unaltered by the works.
