Hull City’s search for a new manager continues as owner Acun Ilicali looks to appoint a successor to Ruben Selles who lost his job almost a week ago.
The Tigers have been progressing with finding the man they believe capable of building City into a side capable of challenging at the right end of the Championship table next season, after surviving on goal difference almost three weeks ago at Portsmouth.
Talks have been underway with potential candidates over the past few days since Selles was sacked after taking charge of 26 league games, but who are the people charged with making the key decision?
Here, we take a look….
Acun Ilicali
City’s owner will have the ultimate say on who becomes the next manager of Hull City AFC. Ilicali is once again driving the manager search and has conducted a flurry of interviews already, but is said to be working closely alongside a group he has previously labelled his football brain team.
Jared Dublin
The American worked at Google before arriving in England to study for an MBA in Football Industries at Liverpool University, and went on to spend six years working at Sheffield United’s recruitment department. He then took on roles at Reading and Stoke City, before arriving at City a year ago.
Dublin role has changed somewhat since he first arrived as the club’s recruitment lead following the departure of Tan Kesler at the back end of last year.
Mustapha Yokes
A former coach in the Turkish Super Lig, Yokes is one of Ilicali’s most trusted aides and has been one of his men on the ground in East Yorkshire since the takeover in January 2022. Though his title has never been officially confirmed by the club, Yokes has been on the board and worked across the club’s international recruitment in recent years.
Martin Hodge
The former Sheffield Wednesday, Everton and Leicester City goalkeeper arrived at City a few weeks ago and has assumed the title of head of recruitment. That role belonged to Dublin following Lee Darnbrough’s exit 12 months ago, but vacated it to become sporting director.
Since retiring from playing in 1996, the 66-year-old has operated as a coach, scout and head of recruitment at various clubs with his most recent coming in South Wales with Swansea City. It’s thought Hodge has been instrumental in some key decison-making since arriving at the MKM Stadium.
