Semi Ajayi’s agent has claimed the midfielder remains in talks with Hull City over a move to the MKM Stadium this summer, after leaving West Bromwich Albion.
The experienced 31-year-old is leaving The Hawthorns after the Baggies opted against renewing his contract, bringing an end to his six-year stay in the Black Country.
Over the course of the 2024/25 campaign, the Nigerian international was struck by two injuries, which kept him sidelined for lengthy periods, meaning he could only play 15 times in the Championship and missed both games against City.
Ajayi was a £1.5m arrival from Rotherham United in 2019 and went on to become a regular in the Premier League and Championship for Albion, but has struggled with injury over the course of the past 12 months.
His departure from Albion sees him join former City target John Smith and lively attacker Grady Diangana in being moved on at the end of a season that ended badly with the club missing out on the top six following a disastrous run-in.
According to his agent, Larry Oban, Ajayi is still in talks with City and League One side Reading over where his next destination will be, having spoken previously about the Tigers’ potential interest.
“He’s already in talks with Reading and Hull, who admire his versatility and experience. An assessment will take place in the coming weeks, but he’ll be there somewhere next season,” Oban told the Express and Star.
In total, the midfielder has amassed a double century of Championship appearances, scoring 18 times while he’s played 33 times in the top flight after coming through the ranks at Arsenal.
