We are extremely saddened to share that Michael (Mike) Walker suddenly died on 15 May 2025 near his home in Hertford. He will be deeply missed by all his friends and family including his wife Marion, his brother David, his sister Sheila, his children John and Harriet and his grandchildren Lewis, Asha, Freya and Zach. Mike served as Chief Executive Officer at Broxbourne Borough Council from 1984-2014. He had also worked for the Open University as an Associate Lecturer since the 1970s, continuing to teach courses and tutor students until he died. He will be remembered for his thoughtfulness, generosity and humour as well as his love of cycling, dogs and fixing things.
