Hull City owner Acun Ilicali says Abdus Omur can still have a future at the MKM Stadium, despite ending the season on loan in his native Turkey.

Abdus has struggled to make an impact since returning to the Super Lig, playing just six times for Çaykur Rizespor, having struggled with injury. That loan deal does not have any option or obligation to buy, and as it stands, the 25-year-old playmaker will return to City this summer to discuss what happens next.

City‘s transfer business is largely on hold at the minute until the club seal a permanent successor to Ruben Selles, who was sacked last Thursday, but Omur’s long-term future will be an early job for the new incumbent.

“Yeah, I think he’s coming back,” Ilicali told Hull Live when asked if Abdus would be returning. “Of course it’s Abdus’ decision, and I will respect him, but he’s a top talent and everybody saw that in the first year. In the second year, because of injury, he couldn’t perform, and Ruben (Selles) didn’t see his best times. There was no separation, but now I think he will come with his full energy, and I’m sure that he will impress us.”

Ilicali also joked that he needed to have a conversation with Fenerbahce’s vice-president about the potential return of midfielder Lincoln.

The Brazilian spent the second half of the season on loan at City making 11 appearances, with his notable contribution coming at Hillsborough when he provided the pinpoint free-kick for Charlie Hughes to power in the winning header deep in added time against rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

Speaking in the closing stages of the campaign, the Fenerbahce loanee expressed his desire to remain in East Yorkshire if a deal could be struck with the Turkish giants.

“I love him, but of course, we have to speak to his club because he’s not our player. He’s a Fenerbahce player. I have to speak to the Fenerbahce vice president to give us permission to get Lincoln,” the Tigers said with a smirk. ”Then if he gives us permission, then we have a chance.”
