Andre Savelio has linked up with his former Hull FC teammate Scott Taylor at Goole Vikings. Taylor took charge of the new League 1 club ahead of the 2025 season, with Savelio the latest to join the East Yorkshire outfit.

Savelio left Huddersfield Giants and full-time professional rugby league last year, linking up with Championship club Doncaster. However, the move to the South Yorkshire part-timers has not worked out, with the back rower only playing once for Richard Horne’s side. Therefore, Goole is his next port of call as he looks to get some more regular appearances under his belt.

Savelio played alongside Taylor at Hull for five seasons after joining the club from Brisbane Broncos back in 2019. He was limited to just 64 appearances and has also spent time at St Helens and Warrington Wolves throughout his career.

Meanwhile, Goole have won two of their eight games in League 1 so far and have also bolstered their ranks further with the loan signing of Jason Tali, also from Doncaster.

“Both players are a great boost for us, bringing some quality, experience and size to our squad – which we have been looking for,” Taylor said on the signings.

“It is a great opportunity for both of them to get some important minutes under their belts and will help some of our younger, less experienced lads who can see what they are about.

“Both are a real handful; they can be unplayable on their day. Andre is someone we know well and has been working hard on his fitness after injury, so this will be another good step forward for him.

“Jason is proven at this level and has always made an impact. He will bring invaluable experience for us and some strike out wide, which will benefit us. We are looking forward to welcoming them both into camp, and we will see what they are like before we name our squad this week.”

Goole head up to Cumbria this weekend, taking on Workington Town at Derwent Park. They are currently playing a run of fixtures on the road while their Victoria Pleasure Ground gets redeveloped.

They host Whitehaven on July 12 and play six of their final seven league games on home turf – with the likes of Jamie Shaul set to be in action.
