Swansea City forward Jerry Yates has been linked with a move to Championship rivals Hull City with it looking like he may well leave the Welsh side this summer.

Yates ended the campaign at City’s relegation rivals Derby County. His 10 goals for the East Midlands club proved crucial to them avoiding an instant return to League One.

The forward penned a three-year deal in South Wales when he joined from Blackpool in summer 2023 in a deal believed to be worth around £2.5m, but was then loaned out to the Pride Park outfit the following year.

Doncaster-born Yates has 41 goals and 12 assists to his name in 194 Championship appearances across spells at Rotherham United, Blackpool, the Swans and Rams.

Since arriving at the Swansea.com Stadium in July 2023 from Bloomfield Road, Yates has played 46 times, scoring nine goals but his future looks to be away from the club under new boss Alan Sheehan.

According to Football Insider, City are keen on signing the 28-year-old frontman, but face competition from Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers, QPR and Derby, along with two outfits in the MLS. Sources involved in the club’s recruitment process have indicated to Hull Live that links to Yates at this stage are wide of the mark and he is not a player currently on the club’s radar.

Adding firepower to their squad is the key transfer priority facing City this summer after Ruben Selles’ side finished bottom of the league for goals scored. The goal-shy Tigers mustered just 44 in their 46 games with Joao Pedro finishing top scorer with six, and Hull Live believe he will be leaving the MKM Stadium when his contract expires.

Pedro’s one-year deal ends this summer, and though the club have the option to extend it by a further 12 months, it’s understood the 33-year-old is unlikely to accept and therefore bring an end to his one season in English football.
