There are long term roadworks ongoing in and around the city, but there are also shorter term ones planned. Here is your definitive list of all the ongoing and upcoming roadworks in the area, as announced by Hull City Council.
A63 – St James Street to Market Place: Major A63 improvement scheme – full infrastructure change. Lane and road closures until completion of scheme, expected Spring 2026.
Albert Avenue: Cable upgrade. Roseberry Street to Chatham Street. Multi-way signals in place. Until May 30.
Anlaby Road: Gas works. Bus lane closure from Hull Royal to the junction of Park Street/Icehouse Road. Until May 30.
Anlaby Road: Telecoms pole installation opposite 1002 Anlaby Road. Working hours 8pm to 5am. Road closure in place. Until May 16.
Beverley Road: Gas works. Lane closure in place from number 53 to the junction of Margaret Street. Until July 11.
Beverley Road: Emergency permit for bus lane closure south of strand closure. Until May 19.
Beverley Road: Gas works at the junction of Strand Close. Multi-way signals in place. May 19 to 30.
Boothferry Road: Install new VMS sign. Lane closure in place. May 15 to 16.
Bude Road: Utility repair and maintenance works. Two-way signals in place. May 19 to 30.
Carden Avenue: New connection. Road closure in place. Until May 14.
Chanterlands Avenue: Investigation works to underground culvert opposite the entrance to Rainhill Rd. Two-way signals in place. May 21 to 22.
Cottingham Road: To access manhole chamber outside 334 Cottingham Road. Tw-way signals in place. May 19.
Danube Road: Installing drainage connections for new Living With Water aquagreen. Also sewer works and the creation of a speed hump. Road closure in place. Until June 13.
Fountain Street: Emergency road closure for gas works at the junction of Anlaby Road. Until May 15.
Guildhall Road: Public realm works, including paving, surfacing, drainage, retaining walls and ducting within Queens Gardens and along Guildhall Road, Wilberforce Drive and Queens Dock Avenue. Lane closure on Guildhall Road. Until October 31.
High Street: \u0009Public realm works between Liberty Lane and Blackfriargate. Road closure in place. Until August 11.
Humber Dock Street: Public realm works, road closure in place. Works are to take place on the public right of way along Humber Dock Street between junctions with Blanket Row and Humber Street. Until October 21.
Icehouse Road: Gas works at the junction of Anlaby Road. Road closure in place. May 19 to June 16.
James Reckitt Avenue: Telecoms works at the junction of Summerganags Road. Two-way signals in place. Until May 20.
Margaret Street: Road closure due to works on Beverley Road. May 20 to June 2.
Micro-surfacing programme: Various road closures across the city for the annual micro-surfacing programme. Until June 13.
National Avenue: Rectify defect. Two-way signals in place. Until May 20.
New Bridge Road: Excavate to rectify anti-skid defect due to incorrect materials. Two-way signals in place. May 19 to 23.
Park Street: Gas works outside National Tyres and Autocare. Road closure in place. April 19 to June 16.
Princes Avenue: Connection only due to works on Queens Road. Two-way signals in place. Until May 16.
Princes Dock Street: Public realm works from the junction of A63 Castle Street to junction with Whitefriargate. Road closure in place. Until July 16.
Princes Road: Gas works at the junction of Queens Road. Road closure in place. Until May 16.
Queens Dock Avenue: Public realm works, Lane closure in place. Until October 31.
Queens Road: Essential gas works and carriageway resurfacing. Road closure at the junction of Queens Road and Princes Avenue. Until May 16.
Queens Road: Carriageway resurfacing and trench reinstatement at the Queens Road / Princes Avenue roundabout. Road closure in place. May 12 to 23.
Retford Grove: Install valve and washout at the junction of Annandale Road. Road closure in place. May 12 to 16.
Spring Bank West: Uplift the Walton Street level crossing for re railing. Hours of work 00:01 – 07:00. May 18.

Strand Close: Gas works at the junction of Strand Close to Beverley Road. Multi-way signals in place. May 19 to 30.

Swinderby Garth: Deep excavation required in the carriageway to replace old gas main. Multi-way signals in place. Until May 19.
Walliker Street: Low voltage mains cable fault at the side of 449 Anlaby Road. Road closure in place. Until May 12.
Wellington Lane: Road closure due to works on Beverley Road. Until May 23.
