A clothes swap event with a lively party atmosphere is happening in Hull on Sunday.

From midday until 3pm on May 11, NV Boutique will host the party at Monroe’s Bar in Savile Street. Guests will be able to declutter their wardrobes, discover hidden gems, and socialise.

Nadine, the co-owner of NV Boutique, said: “When people hear ‘clothes swap party’, they normally think of it being a bit like a church hall and a jumble sale and that is not what we are doing.

“First off, it is open to every single gender. It is a safe space in Munroe’s Bar. So we are bringing ourselves and our boutique over, including some designer items, and basically you bring up to 10 items yourself.

“I’m sure everybody has got stuff in their wardrobe that they don’t wear. Bring it along as long as it is clean and you’d be happy to go home with it.

“And then you can have a look at what there is and take what you want home with you in exchange. On top of that, Monroe’s is putting on music and there will be a bar. It will be a really nice day out, to be honest.”

Tickets for the clothes swap party are £5 on the door and some have also been sold on Eventbrite.

Nadine and Venice set up NV Boutique a year ago and opened in Trinity Market. They have since gone online and operate from Norwich House in Savile Street, behind the BBC building.

Visitors can make an appointment with NV Boutique through its Facebook or Instagram page to sell unwanted but good quality clothes.

Nadine said: “We do all the listing, all the photography, we do all the postage and packaging and everything is insured.” If items brought in are sold, the money is paid in two weeks’ time, Nadine said.
