Hull City fans have voted goalkeeper Ivor Pandur as their player of the season to cap what has been a special week for the Croatian following a dramatic end to the season.
Pandur was part of Ruben Selles’ City side that secured Championship survival on the final day of the season at Portsmouth and then collected a trio of gongs from the club.
The Croatian stopper was awarded the players’ player of the year, supporters’ player of the year and player of the year at the club’s end-of-season awards, and now he’s got a fourth accolade.
In a poll conducted on the Hull Live website, around 1,000 supporters cast their vote and Pandur was the stand-out winner, claiming an impressive 67 per cent of the vote.
Pandur’s closest challenger was defender Charlie Hughes with 12 per cent, while Leeds United loanee Joe Gelhardt notched six per cent, having bagged five crucial goals to help City secure their Championship status. Hughes’ defensive partners Sean McLoughlin and skipper Lewie Coyle picked up three per cent.
In his first season in English football, Pandur played in 44 of City’s 46 league outings and claimed six clean sheets. During a difficult season for the club, Pandur delivered some impressive performances. Arguably, his most impressive came at QPR on October 1 when he made four crucial saves in the first 10 minutes to keep the Tigers on terms, before they went on to win 3-1.
“I want to take this moment to thank you for your kind messages, support and love you gave me this season, Tigers,” the 25-year-old said on social media. “Never in my life have I felt so appreciated, I am beyond blessed to be part of this family, enjoy your summer and then we go for more.”
